Happy weekend everyone! Just a quick post today. I didn’t exactly purchase anything but I did help finance a graphic novel on Kickstarter, and I received it in the mail this week. Normally, I don’t read many graphic novels but I loved the idea of a contemporary twist to a greek mythology tale. I also received 5 postcard size prints. I love swag!

I haven’t helped finance many projects on Kickstarter, but lately I’ve been hooked. There are some wonderful projects out there, and not just in publishing, but amazing entrepreneurs coming up with amazing ideas. What do you think of Kickstarter or similar websites? Have you ever helped finance any projects? Let me know! Or simply share what’s stacking your shelves this week!

Ever since she was little she loved books and stories. It's no surprise that today, you'll always find her with a book within arm's reach.

  1. Jessica @ a GREAT read

OOoh nice! I actually did contribute to a Kickstarter last year. It was to help aid Rachel Caine in producing another Weather Warden novel which it was one of my favorite series way back when! I’ve received a few of the goodies but as this is an uncontracted project of hers it kind of has to be at the end of her to do list, understandably so! So I haven’t gotten the final product yet but I did get a few short stories I still need to read and a gorgeous art print!

My STS will be up tomorrow, so be sure to stop by if you can!

    Have a GREAT day!

I think it’s wonderful that you have contributed to Kickstarter projects. For me, it’s overwhelming and frustrating. I get flooded with emails to help with projects. Meanwhile, I’m struggling just to not be foreclosed on or have my car repossessed. So it gets irritating when people keep asking me for money when I obviously don’t have any to spare. Also, Kickstarter gets annoying when people keep asking me to share about it. Book promoters and authors expect me to take time to post about it for free while they get paid. So, yeah, I’ve been turned off about Kickstarter in general. The concept is great and I understand its value; I’m just worn out on requests.
